Moving to Frederick Maryland?

Moving from Frederick Maryland?

Why is it when you search on Google for “moving companies in Frederick Maryland” in the main body of search results there are only 2 *real* moving companies listed, 2 are from this blog, the rest are places that get paid if you fill out a moving quote from thier site?

Google search results for moving companies are not moving companies

Google search results for moving companies are not moving companies

SEO is why, search engine optimization.

The moving directories use it, the real moving companies aren’t yet wise to it. (or their stuborn?)

Let’s take a look at this: there are 10 listings in the “Google Local Business Listings” and 10 listings in the main body of Google search results.

Who is ranking #1? 123movers.net

The first 5 listings are places that want you to fill out a moving quote, they’ll get paid around $4 for each quote you fill out. They don’t care if you hired the best moving company, it’s of no concern to them if you hired a bad one.

It IS their concern that they make money.

This blog is for rent to a real Frederick Maryland moving company. Do you see any one else grabbing 2 of the 10 spots?

How do the moving quote directories manage to dominate the top search engine listings  (often with multiple listings) while “real” Frederick Moving Companies can barely manage to get a single entry in search listings?

There are two primary causes for this and the first one is pride.

Pride goeth before the fall.

Most small business owners think of advertising in terms of pitching thier product to the public, the advertising medium is considered a tool to use at thier disposal. The business owners idea model of their universe consists of they think of advertising as something they have to pay for out of their pocket so they are going to say what they want said about their company.

It’s their dime isn’t it?

Frederick Maryland Moving companies are no different than any other small business owner. They have their own ideas of what a business website  should look like… it represents them so they think they should control what it looks like, ya think?

So what do Frederick Moving Companies do? They go get a web designer to make a brochure website or a “business card” website.  The end product displays much like a business card.  Some savvy Moving Companies will look into hireing a search engine consultant in hopes of improving the website’s ranking in Google. In search engine parlance we’re known as SEO guys: Search Engine Optimization.

An SEO firm is going to have to edit and alter the existing site to make it perform better in Google, but that is NOT going to have

Moving Scams and Moving forums

03/29/2009

Now you can check to see if the mover you’re interesting in hiring has any complaints… easily online!

Avoiding moving scams

Moving company scams can cost you a lot of money and spoil the excitement of getting a new home, so know what you can do to protect yourself.

Moving can be one of the most stressful times in your life. There are usually a great deal of memories and a considerable amount of money at stake, so the last thing you want to deal with is getting scammed. Here are some tips to follow so you can avoid getting ripped off when you move from one home to the next.

Check references

If you heard of a moving company from your real estate agent, chances are his or her other clients have used the same service and have been pleased. You may also want to ask for references directly from the company so you can see how satisfied other customers have been with the movers. If you are unsure about a certain moving company, it may be a good idea to check into your local chamber of commerce, as well as a community organization that specializes in relocation to see if there have been any complaints or reports of moving company scams. Another good resource is your local police department. An officer should be able tell you about any recent scams or what to look out for when contracting a mover to transport your belongings.

Be cautious

If you have found a moving company that you are interested in contracting for your move, here are a few things to consider: Do they give a local address? Did they give you an estimate for moving over the phone? Does the company require a large deposit? Are there company vehicles or generic rented trucks? All of these things can be red flags! Reputable moving companies should be able to give a local address and phone number, and your estimate should be given once a representative of the company has seen the size and the amount of furniture you have. You should also try to avoid paying movers until the move has been completed and the company should have their own vehicles with company logos, rather than trucks rented from another company. Another good idea is to look into licensure and insurance information, as well as consumer advocacy groups before you contract a company for your move.

Know your rights

If you feel you have been scammed, ripped off or treated unfairly by a moving company it is your right to react appropriately. A good place to start is with your local police department and chamber of commerce. It is also a good idea to report any scams or unsatisfactory activity to the Department of Transportation by calling 1-888-DOT-SAFT. Doing so can help recover your money or your belongings, as well as help protect other consumers from moving scams. Published on January 30, 2007

represent a new standard for professionalism and excellence and a "must have"
credential to be identified as a trusted, professional mover.

Rogue Movers: How Reputable is Your Moving Company?

Wednesday February 28, 2007

All moving companies are not created equal. We made this discovery when moving from a rural community, where the choice of cross-country movers was extremely limited, to the opposite side of the continent. In the end, we did manage to get our damaged goods back, but it took the police, an enthusiastic television crew and our determined efforts to do it – a situation no one should experience.

More and more people are going online to find a moving company, with mixed results. It seems that the Search Engine Marketing Skills of a few savvy webmasters are out-performing legitimate moving companies in the search engine results pages.

Type “move to Frederick Maryland” into Google and the majority of the listings Google returns are NOT moving companies.

What shows up at nearly all of the top organic listings are so called “Moving Company Directories”.  The highly skilled in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) webmasters are staking out the keywords people search for

Nationally, the moving industry creates $16.5 billion each year in earnings, provides nearly 123,000 jobs and spends $7 billion on equipment, parts and supplies.

Downtown Frederick, Maryland

Downtown Frederick, Maryland, originally uploaded by craftybeaver.

The City of Frederick goes back 250 years.  A pre-revolutionary town,

the old-fashioned hills and spires of this little town look like Old Germany, Schiferstadt Germany is actually a “Sister City” to Frederick Maryland (what ever sister city means)

Lots of Italianate architecture, Frederick has lots of antique shops.

There are many, many reasons to relocate to Frederick Maryland.

And there are jobs to be had, Montgomery County is so close and provides a measure of high tech pull on the employee base of Frederick Maryland.

$15,000 worth of MD home buying help

Frederick Maryland Mortgage Help Relocate to Frederick

It could be a good time to buy new digs. The Senate yesterday passed a new home buyer tax credit allotting buyers up to $15,000 in tax credits. The New York Times reports:

The Senate on Wednesday voted to expand the economic stimulus package with a tax credit for homebuyers of up to $15,000, a provision championed by Republicans as addressing a root cause of the recession.

If you’ve just stumbled onto this RSS feed and remember to subscribe to Frederick Maryland Moving via Email to ensure you can enjoy the latest post(s).

The tax break for homebuyers, which the Senate approved by voice vote without opposition, was the second amendment in two days intended to encourage consumers to make major purchases. The tax credit would give buyers 10 percent of the price of a primary residence bought within one year, up to $15,000, and is intended to stabilize plummeting home prices, which caused a wave of foreclosures and led to the near collapse of the financial system as Wall Street firms wrote down billions in mortgage-backed assets.

With Wednesday’s additions, the cost of the Senate package has climbed well above $900 billion — the limit that Mr. Obama has set for the final legislation. Intense negotiations seemed likely over how to reduce the price tag.

Times are good for people with money to spare.

Occupying the top spots in Google

12/31/2008

To become an authority site in Google’s eyes is something you have to earn.

It’s not possible to cheat, you can’t just wake up one day and decide to dominate Google listings in your area. I’ve been making some pretty bold  claims on my blogs then backing them up, some better than others.

Having Google view your collection of websites as THE authority on your area is exactly like taking the high ground and putting YOUR artillery on it.

I was just watching cable and caught a glimpse of a show about Napoleon. Apparently when Napoleon was a junior officer during the French Revolution the British trying to move in on a French port, to capitalize on France’s political instability.

Napoleon recognized that his Generals were incorrect about how best to go about prosecuting the defense of that French port city. The generals wanted to make a tried and true full frontal assault (which would have resulted in thousands of casualties).

Napoleon surveyed the situation, immediately recognized that the Brits wanted the port, not the city. So he put artillery on the high ground overlooking the port.  Needless to say the Brits left as soon as they saw their ships were defenseless.

Frederick Businesses need someone to occupy the high ground defending Frederick’s “port”.

Google is that high ground.

I boldly claimed that I’d grab all the top spots in Google for my clients, some I did outstanding, some pretty good, others are “knocking at the door” to a top ten spot. Here’s my report card for Fall 2008.

keyword phrase:

What do you think?

Why are they moving to Frederick?

12/31/2008

Moving to Frederick Maryland just make sense from an investment point of view.

According to Fortune Magazine Washington DC is slated to be #10 on the list of 10 biggest  home value losers of next year.  From Yahoo Finance:

10. Washington, D.C.

2008 median house price: $343,160

2009 projected change: -19.9%

2010 projected change: -5.7%

A new administration means a changing of the guard. It also is going to mean an increase in hiring for the DC areas federal government contractors.

Republican aides and republican lobbyists moving into DC will benefit from the falling house prices. Montgomery county is one of the few places in the entire US where property values actually went up.  Where are the new employees coming to fill the jobs at the various government contractors going to move to when they find out how much it costs to live in Montgomery County?

Moving to neighboring Frederick Maryland is going to look very, very attractive to those freshly hired wizkids filling the ranks of Federal Contractors.

Average listing price in Frederick, MD went up 0.13% to $330,305 from last week

Moving to Frederick Maryland part 2

12/29/2008

Frederick Maryland Moving Companies facing extra tough economic times need extra tough advertising measures if they are to survive. In this business climate standard advertising just doesn’t cut it, not any more.

Every business website needs a corresponding business blog, even if that business isn’t aware of that fact.

Why would a Frederick Maryland Moving Company want or need a blog when they already have a website?

Fact:

Blogs out perform websites in Google.

A blog isn’t supposed to be a replacement for a website, it’s purpose is to support a website. Every Frederick Business needs to be listed in Frederick.com and have a Business Blog in addition to their company website.

Why?

Your website can get you a single entry in Google, two if your lucky.  A blog can get three of it’s own to go with the Frederick.com page  and your company website.

Why would a Frederick Maryland Moving company want that?

Look how many entries are taken up by 123movers.com, city-data.com, movers.com etc.

How many does that leave the competition?

If your company occupies 4, 5, or 6 of the top ten Google listings and the moving quote directories take up 2 more… remember those moving quote directories are NOT real moving companies (like YOU are). People searching for moving companies are searching for you, not some other site to fill out a quote for a company that isn’t in Frederick in the first place.

So you already have a Moving Company website? Where is it found in Google? Is it in the top ten listings? Because if it’s not in the top 10 your not going to get much traffic to that site at all.

People trust the main body of listings, they do not trust the sites that have paid to be above everyone else.  The idea is that if Google thinks your site is important, than it really is important. You have to EARN that top spot in Google,  the top spot in the organic search results is not up for sale.

If your Frederick Moving Company website isn’t in Google why bother having one at all? Google is the ONLY reason to have a website, it didn’t used to be that way but with Google’s 90% marketshare (in the US)  it is that way now.

So this is a Frederick Maryland Moving Company Blog in search of a Frederick Maryland Moving company to lease it.

As a Frederick Moving Company if you lease this blog, you are leasing it’s commanding of the ‘high ground’ in G0ogle.  You’ll notice your Moving Company website is ranked below this blog. You will get exclusive rights to this blog, it’ sister blog and both of their Top Spots in Google.

The price of admission to this elite top ranking is to purchase a Frederick.com sponsor page from me for $575 per year.  You’ll get:

So how do the Moving Quote directory websites rank at the top of Google, not just in Frederick, but everywhere?

They have page after page of Frederick Facts, trivia, nomenclature, anything Frederick is in thier including the kitchen sink. That’s because how else is Google going to figure out that your site is about Frederick if it doens’t find Frederick facts on it?

==========================

The moving quote directories are run by better SEO webmasters than the web design people you hired to create what you thought was a good website . They are burying you, they are #1,#2,#3 while you struggle to even make it to the first page at all.

You could write your website copy so a prospective moving customer will buy from you… and your site is going to show up on page 3 of Google search results OR you could write your website copy, not for human consumption, but write copy for Googlebot’s consumption and get your site to rank.

If your site isn’t ranked, what good is it? noone is going to visit it if it’s not on the top ten list. Therefore, if this blog is ranked (and you can clearly see that it is) and it’s YOUR Frederick Moving Company Blog, then YOUR Frederick Moving company website is going to be found right above this blog… but only if you purchase a Frederick.com sponsor page from me.

To write for Googlebot is easy, if you used this copy, you’ll get your site to improve it’s ranking (but you wouldn’t get any new moving customers by using what follows):

This is the Frederick Moving Company blog that Frederick Moving companies like to blog about.. gibberish I know, but Googlebot doesn’t know that. What follows for the rest of this post is “food for Googlebot”

FDIC securities loosen up credit

12/26/2008

Most people relocate to a new area for better employment opportunities. Who wants to commute 2 hours a day? Relocating to get a better job means buying a home.

If people cant get a mortgage, it puts a severe damper on relocating.

The collapse of the credit market fed the housing bubble burst…

The FDIC has, since early in 2008 undertaken numerous innovative programs to ease the fall for most Americans. According to http://mortgageloan.com this new program: Temporary Liquidity Guarantee Program looks like the one to turn things around for mortgage availability.

Early indications are that the TLGP is encouraging the return of normal, functioning credit markets. Goldman Sachs Group was the first to jump on the program, selling $5 billion worth of notes that will mature in 2012. Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, GE Capital, Citigroup, and SunTrust have also announced plans to participate. So far, investors have responded enthusiastically-showing a strong demand for safe investments that outperform the currently depressed yields of Treasury securities.

Can we say “Light at the end of the tunnel?”

Proximity to some of the hottest jobs in the US makes Frederick Maryland an ideal place to relocate to.  Every one wants to get a great job, Montgomery County’s Technology Corridor has many of them; take a look at Montgomery Counties Cost of Living and Frederick Maryland looks better and better.

Merry Christmas Frederick:)
